Word of the Week #7

Word of the Week #7

This week there’s been a lot of shouting, a lot of defiance. And a lot of shouting this word at the children and the puppy!

The word, of course is:

word of the week stop

To the girls:

“Stop shouting!”

“Stop talking and eat!”

“Stop fighting!”

“Stop running before you fall!”

“Stop whingeing!”

“Stop crying!”

And to the dog:

“Stop jumping up!”

“Stop barking!”

“Stop biting!”

But the most important stop message came from the Save the Children Bloggers’ Conference:

Stop the suffering, stop the unnecessary deaths, stop the apathy!”

Great to think about this word and its reach a bit more. Was wishing I could have been there last week. #WotW

  2. Mama H says:

I’ve said stop a lot this week too. Annoying that it’s had to be used at home but obviously a very important word too.

  3. Sharon Powell says:

Sounds like my house 🙂 #WotW

  4. How annoying, I hope next week will feel more like a ‘go’ week! #WotW

Funny how a word can give so much weight to our words and convey so much. It conveys discipline and the call to order but in the social context, it carries such an important message. Thank you for sharing it, we always need reminded there are people out there who need us to speak out for them. In a loud manner, sometimes!#WotW

  6. Mummy Bear says:

If we all stopped to think, I think the world would be slightly better for it…

  7. What a wonderful way to illustrate the power of a word in both contexts 🙂 Hopefully you’ll have found you’re using it less at home next week!

  8. So frustrating at home, yet so powerful elsewhere. I hope next week’s a better one, that allows more ‘go’ than stop! Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  9. Sounds stressful. I hate nagging Baby to stop doing things.
It sounds as if the Save The Children conference was very worthwhile. x

  10. A necessary word, albeit a frustrating one. Great to use your word to also highlight such an important issue x #WotW

  11. Good word, well illustrated! After the first line I thought it was going to be a simple “no!”

Sounds like a tough week. The Save the children conference sounds interesting and it’s interesting to see the same word used in a positive and negative light.
