Word of the Week #29
School is winding down for the long break, the sun is feeling hotter than it has in a long time, ice cold evening beers are a must-have and even ice creams are becoming part of our staple diet. This week, the only word can be
A little bit like Olaf, I love summer, but with all the training I’ve been doing for my new role, it doesn’t feel like I’ve had much of one this year. But this week, there’s just been something in the air, an atmosphere that screams Summer. We had ice creams and then a stroll along the prom after work/school on Monday afternoon with my parents and then on Wednesday my dad and I had a long, slow, hot drive in a car with broken air con up to the O2 arena in Greenwich to finally see Monty Python Live. This in itself was exciting enough, but a walk through the Greenwich Millennium Village demanded a cold beer in the garden of the now rather swanky Pilot Inn before heading up to join the crowds at the arena. And afterwards, the balmy evening made for a delightful walk back along the Thames to get back to the car.
And today, I’m hoping to escape work earlier than normal to make the most of Bunny’s INSET day and the scorching temperatures to get to the beach with the girls, our new sun tent and some friends and the grandparents.
Hello summer, the holidays are so close I can smell them!
