At the start of the summer holidays, I wrote about how much I’d love to take the girls to the Lollibop Festival in London, but with the cost of getting there and buying food and drink on top of tickets, it was looking to be too expensive for us so I decided to try and win the tickets. I entered every competition I could find and eventually, thanks to the lovely Kara at Chelseamamma, I won us a family pass.
For anyone still in the dark about what the Lollibop Festival is, it’s essentially a day long festival (so no camping!) for little people – mainly aimed at under 10’s. There are meet and greets with some of the top TV characters, activity tents, craft stations, workshops and shows on the stages and around the venue. In fact the ethos of the festival is to play, learn and have fun with your children and all activities are focused on children. This pretty much fits with how we live – let’s have fun together and learn together through these experiences.
So now we’re planning our trip and as usual I’m getting a little bit obsessive in my organising and reading everything I can find about it. There are interactive maps available to find out where the action is, there’s even a parent Superhero pack just for mummies like me! I’ve found that lots of bloggers went last year and have posted about the fun they had so have been scouring my favourite blogs for more information and of course, I’ve been following the official LolliBop Twitter feed, blog and Facebook page – and thereby meeting some of the wonderful people that will be there. I LOVE that Little Tikes have created an adult-sized Cozy Coupe just for the show and will definitely be testing it out! I also love the idea of the temporary telephone number tattoos that Kattoo will be providing.
But for me, what I’m most excited about is seeing Bunny and Bear’s faces as they come face to face with some of their favourite TV characters. There’s Peppa (of course!), Hello Kitty, Postman Pat, Mr Men and Little Misses with their very own village fete, Katy Ashworth, Alex Winters, Andy & Sid, and of course, Justin Fletcher! Lego, Little Tikes and WOW toys are all there too as well as some acts, characters and brands we’ve not yet discovered. There’s even wine tasting for the grown ups! Best of all, this is all happening within what is now known as the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. That wonderful park within a city that we all fell in love with last year, has been transformed and reopened to the public and I cannot wait to see it again!
I’m not sure how we’re going to fit everything in over just one day, but will do my best to make sure we don’t miss anything! And of course, I’ll be back next week to tell you all about our day with lots of photos no doubt!
If you haven’t already got tickets, I believe there are still some available from the LolliBop partners and the festival is on tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. Might see you there….!
