Healthy Body, Healthy Mind
I’ve just come out of the busiest period of my job and despite my colleagues promising me that I’d easily lose a couple of stone over those 2 months of running around, it hasn’t happened. While my activity levels went through the roof and I could go most of the day without eating or drinking, I made up for it in the evenings by gorging on carbs, fats and sugars. All of which were easy to prepare and eat while I was in a zombie-like state, but none of which were healthy or nutritional.
Last weekend, I went out for a friend’s hen night and was really excited when we were told the fancy dress theme was suits and stilettos. Uber-sexy guaranteed. And I felt that way as I got ready. Until the next morning, when the obligatory Facebook photos of the night before started showing up in my timeline. My arms look flabby and untoned, my shirt clung to my mummy tummy, and at best my trousers showed off my curves, but actually just accentuated all the lumps and bumps I hadn’t realised had crept in. This was not the look I’d been aiming for!
So it stops now. The bad habits I’ve got into need to be kicked to the kerb and now work is quiet, I need to up my fitness levels dramatically. My diet needs a complete overhaul to cleanse out my system and neutralise some of the less pleasant side effects I get from eating. I have my bike back from my ex’s so can use that instead of the car as much as is practical (when you have two small children!) and now I have time again, I can walk more as well. This isn’t just about losing weight, this is about getting my body back to being and feeling healthy again instead of lethargic, bloated, gassy and spotty.
I was using an activity tracking app on my phone called Runkeeper which was pretty good when I remembered to turn it on (which wasn’t often), but having sent my phone for a somewhat prolonged dip in a pub toilet at the weekend I am now using a less “smart”phone which really isn’t as responsive as it needs to be to reliably track activity. I have been sent a Fitbug Orb activity tracker and Kiqplan Slim & Trim digital app to test to support me in my goals, but unfortunately, neither of these work with my old phone either! Which is highly frustrating as they appear to be exactly what I need to keep me on track. As soon as I upgrade my phone, I’ll review how I’m getting on with them and my healthier diet.
In the meantime, I’ve also been given a Kiqplan Slim & Trim personalised weight loss and toning app for women of all sizes worth £19.99 to give away.
