Christmas Countdown: Portable North Pole
Last year, a family friend pointed us in the direction of the Portable North Pole personalised Santa Claus video message console and we had lots of fun creating one for Bunny. She was completely stunned when she watched her video and saw Santa actually talking to her and referencing her life.
This year, alongside the free version of the video, there are lots more options available to choose from on the Portable North Pole site including personalised letters, cards, and even telephone calls from the big man himself as they do their best to “Make Christmas Magic”!
We’ve been given the chance to test out their premium video which offers some fantastic extras for a mere £2.99 – and at Christmas, what’s an extra few pounds in among all the other spending?! Especially as 5% from every purchase made is donated to their PNP Children’s Hospital Programme.
The premium video extras include:
- A completely new video – twice as long (6 minutes)
- Unique video clips (not included in the standard version)
- A large variety of scenarios
- Add up to 5 personal pictures in the video
- Unlimited online views during the Christmas holidays
- Plus, a personalised bonus video sent from Santa’s sleigh for Christmas Eve
The creation process is very straightforward with limited options to personalise it, but enough to fit most children. The hardest part was choosing the photos to use – the premium version allows for a main photo, two special event photos and two additional photos. I chose her first day at school and a recent princess party for the special events and photos of our new puppy and her best friend for the final two. Unfortunately, having a slightly unusual name meant that the pronunciation options weren’t perfect, but there was an option that was close enough to be believable.
Unlike other video creation software I’ve tried, once you hit the Confirm button, the link to the video is emailed to your specified email address immediately. We were really pleased with the final version but if we had wanted to change anything, there was still an option to modify it from the My PNP Account page. You can also pay extra to download an HD version of the video to keep forever – I think this is a great option to record the changes in your child’s life over the years if you do it each year.
We’ll be showing Bunny her video on Sunday morning before she sees that the Christmas elves have arrived so will let you know her reaction then. The premium version also includes a Christmas Eve video that includes the all important reference that Bunny will have to be asleep before Santa arrives. Fingers crossed, this will help as staying up until the early hours again is not on my Christmas wish list!
If you’d like to try the premium version of the video too, the lovely elves at Portable North Pole have kindly given me a discount code for 20% off digital products in the PNP store which is valid until 1st January for my readers. At the payment screen, simply enter BLG20BKP into the Promo code box for the discount to be applied to your order.
We received a voucher to trial the premium video option for free but, as always, the opinions and comments expressed in this post are my own. And Bunny’s reaction on Sunday will also be her own!
