A morning stroll along the gallops with the dog had us enjoying the colours all around us in the wildflowers and bees, butterflies and moths that buzzed around them. An afternoon in the garden saw some bizarre footwear from Bunny and mixed up shoes from Bear.
Bear insisted on having bunches like her sister and it seems weird to think that in just 2 months’ time, these two will be heading off to school together in the morning! That afternoon, the sun was showing us its strength, so we set up the garden for the summer and got out the paddling pool properly as well as putting the gazebo up.
Our playdate came to us this week and the children loved being outside, playing on the swings, climbing frame and slide and even splashed about in the paddling pool for a little while, hence the sunsuits. It was the first time Bear really joined in with the games properly and it was fantastic to hear their squeals of laughter.
Bunny’s last day of term, and thereby last day in Reception class. So we took the lead from The Boy and Me and captured a shot of her holding a photo of her first day in Reception. It’s hard to tell from this but her plaits and legs are much longer! We also had a lovely evening, taking advantage of there not being any school the following day.
I finally finished work for the summer and we headed straight out to the beach to make the most of another glorious day. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as busy as we’d expected so the girls made the most of the space they had to run around and play.
We decided to take an early-ish morning dog walk so we could take her to the beach. It was beautiful having an almost deserted beach to ourselves and the dog certainly enjoyed the freedom. Later on, a friend was hosting a pirates and princesses party at the bandstand, so we headed down to join in the fun, but the girls weren’t in the mood and moped about, refusing to join in so we didn’t stay long!
A bit of a lazy start to the day as I’d been out with colleagues on Friday evening. We headed over to the gallops again and took the girls’ scooters. Bunny whizzes along these days, no fear at all while Bear is still getting the hang of the movement. Although I pointed out her sister’s foot placement and she copied with ease, so it won’t be long. At this point, I would like to mention that Bear picked out her clothes, which will explain the bizarre combination! Afterwards, we headed back down to another beach for the afternoon and the girls spent most of it jumping in and out of the shallows. A wonderful start to the summer holidays!
